With the lead theme Industrial Transformation, HANNOVER MESSE emphasizes the importance of innovation in industrial environments. Because every new technology – from Industrie 4.0 solutions and artificial intelligence to robotic exoskeletons and CO2 neutral production – begins with research and development.

Hannover. Research and development are the backbone of industrial transformation. From 20 to 24 April 2020, HANNOVER MESSE spotlights this decisive role with the new exhibit area Future Hub in Halls 24 and 25, where the focus is on the building blocks of industry: applied research, technology transfer, startups, innovation culture, and the future of work.

Strong partners form the foundation of Future Hub: Exhibitors include the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as well as technical universities, government-sponsored group exhibits and industrial startups.

“Innovation stems above all from people working together in different disciplines and across industry sectors. Therefore, cooperation is the focal point of Future Hub at HANNOVER MESSE. Future Hub is the world’s only cross-industry platform for research and development,” says Olaf Daebler, Global Director Future Hub at Deutsche Messe. “Researchers and scientists as well as young companies and entrepreneurs show potential investors and business partners from all over the world their latest concepts and projects in all branches of industry. Future Hub bundles all topics of HANNOVER MESSE.”

Innovation, creativity and tempo are three characteristics that make startups popular with large companies and investors. On the other hand, financial resources, management experience and business connections are three things startups seek from large companies and investors. HANNOVER MESSE’s startup center – Young Tech Enterprises in Hall 24 – fulfills the needs of both sides with a combination of exhibition, forum, matchmaking and networking events, and daily pitching sessions. Startups can choose from a variety of cost-effective participation options.

“As a startup, participating in Young Tech Enterprises was a real breakthrough for us. Every day, we made countless valuable contacts with industry representatives,” said André Wilmes, managing director of Rafinex. “Among the visitors were many technology scouts from established companies as well as investors and engineers, so we reached exactly the right audience of early adopters.” Roughly 150 startups exhibit at Young Tech Enterprises annually.

The digital age is transforming not only industry, but also the way we work. Under the motto Future of Work , HANNOVER MESSE bundles in Hall 25 the future of work with related topics such as recruiting and further education. The workshops, coaching sessions, consulting lounges and lectures focus primarily on STEM careers. The Association of German Engineers (VDI) organizes the Job Hub, which brings jobseekers together with potential employers.

Framework for exchange, networking and lead generation

At Future Hub , exhibitors and visitors benefit from a range of opportunities for exchange, networking and new business – for example, at the new Transformation Stage in Hall 25. With its mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, interviews, kitchen talks, partner sessions and networking events, the Transformation Stage addresses topics such as Industrie 4.0, artificial intelligence, mobility, sustainability, decarbonization and the future of work. Company executives, company founders, scientists, industry-association representatives and politicians as well as influencers and bloggers are suitable for speaker slots.

The Forum Tech Transfer in Hall 25 promotes innovation management and technology transfer. At the Forum Industrial Startups in Hall 24, participants from the startup scene exchange ideas. The new Pioneers Lounge in Hall 25 offers additional space for exchange, counseling and networking. The evening program rounds out Future Hub with four events: Night of Innovations, Pioneers Night, Startup Night, and Young Engineers Night.
